Tried a few more forceful closures (sorry neighbours) but nothing. I had the similar situation where the boot was not opening, i tried opening it manually via key as well with no luck. Fyi 2013 xf does not have auto boot open or close, thus no such thing as button to set open/close height.

I',ve noticed that, sometimes, the rear hatch (to the trunk/cargo area/boot) will simply close and not soft close. First connect red cable to the positive terminal of your xf’s dead battery, then to the positive terminal of donor battery. Xf soft close boot xf soft close boot.

A short video showing the inside of a jaguar xe boot lock mechanism and how i found it jammed up. Only new 2016 xf has this new function. After a while the hinge pins dry up and the mechanism for the boot lid refuses to open fully.a few drops of 3in1 oil and full operation is restored.
Keep Pressing The Release Button On The Key Fob And At The Same Time Slap The Top Of The Boot With The Flat Of Your Hand.

This Only Happens To Me When I Open The Tailgate With All Of The Doors Locked And When Pushing The Button On The Tailgate To Close It, It Will Beep.
